Standards & Compliance

Operating to the Highest Standards

All forensic work conducted by CTM Consulting adheres to the regulatory and quality frameworks that govern expert evidence in UK legal proceedings.

Forensic Science Regulator (FSR)

Work is conducted in accordance with the Forensic Science Regulator Codes of Practice and Conduct. The FSR sets the quality standards for forensic science in the criminal justice system in England and Wales, and compliance with these codes ensures that evidence is reliable, reproducible, and fit for court.

ISO 17025 Alignment

ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. While independent forensic practitioners are not required to hold accreditation directly, CTM Consulting applies the principles of ISO 17025 — including method validation, quality assurance, and documented procedures — to all casework, ensuring outputs meet the standard expected by accredited laboratories.

Criminal & Civil Procedure Rules

All expert witness reports are prepared in compliance with Criminal Procedure Rules 2020 Part 19 and Civil Procedure Rules Part 35. Every report includes a declaration of truth, an explicit statement of the expert's overriding duty to the court, and full disclosure of methodology — ensuring the evidence is procedurally sound and admissible.

"Forensic science providers should have in place a quality management system that is consistent with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 or equivalent."
Forensic Science Regulator Codes of Practice, Issue 5
